For those who are not familiar with the meaning of Reincarnation, I found this in the Internet:

Reincarnation: It's Background

Reincarnation comes from the Hindu-buddhist philosophy of soul transmigration. This is the "religious" concept of the eternal birth-death-birth cycle, where a soul moves from body to body. The status of each successive body, whether human or animal, is the direct result of the quality of the life the soul led in the previous body. Thus, a "good" life results in rebirth to a higher quality form, and a "bad" life results in rebirth to a lower quality form. This forward and backward progression is based on the Law of Karma, a central foundation of Hinduism and other Eastern-based philosophies. As most of us know, Karma teaches that good deeds are rewarded and bad deeds are punished. The ultimate goal in this Karma cycle is for the soul to progress to the highest level of existence and become one with the universe. Reincarnation is taught side-by-side with pantheism, the belief that everything is God and God is in everything. Reincarnation and pantheism are the central doctrines of Hinduism and occultism, variations of which have grown popular in the Western world in recent decades.

Reincarnation: It's Impact on Western Thought

Reincarnation appeals to Western "religious" thinking, such as the New Age philosophies, because the life cycle concept provides people with unlimited chances to get life right. With reincarnation, we have no imminent or compelling reason to figure out the meaning of life with respect to God and fellow man. We can feel our way through existence, and, if need be, "get it right in the next life." Remarkably, recent surveys reveal that nearly 60% of Americans believe reincarnation is possible. Not only has reincarnation entered Western thought through various New Age teachings, reincarnation has surfaced in the Christian church and certain "Christian" variants. Actually, the Bible is sometimes cited to support a belief in reincarnation, or at least the possibility that reincarnation can coexist with Christianity.

Look into this book in my LINKS page (book category), please.

His book is based on the work of Ian Stevenson, M.D.

Hi Karin, sorry for not being able to get this to you sooner, as you know I've been on the road a lot lately. I just got home and it seems I have some catching up to do.

I find the subject of reincarnation very interesting. I've done a bit of reading on the subject and I've looked at a lot of the videos at YouTube, some of them are absolutely amazing. The ones of adults being hypnotized are always open to speculation because the people have had a lifetime to gain knowledge and could be faking. Although I do believe that some are genuine because of the details that they come out with, things that could only be known by a local historian. But the ones that really knocked my socks off are the pre-school age toddlers, who couldn't possibly have any access to the information and technical level of the details that they have come up with. Names, places, personal stories, things that had been written in letters, pets, intimate knowledge of equipment, vehicles, ships and aircraft. Those ones really gave me cause to stop and think about the validity of reincarnation.

Thanks, Iceman, it is so nice having you back!

You are right, I looked also into studies which confirmed all the info those 3-5 year-olds had at hand. When you concider the mystery of personal phobias and identical birthmarks and scars appearing at the side of a shotgun wound with the next person.....and so on. Very fascinating!

Early Christianity embraced reincarnation for about 300 years, until the Roamans - Emperor Constantinus - recognized the Church.

Just as earth and nature have constant rebirths, so does the spirit or soul.

Jesus once said: "Unless a man is reborn, he cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

Hi Karin,  just touring the forum since it's been a while since I visited.   I see some interesting topics,  this one in particular.   I can see I am going to have to find my way back very soon to add some comments.   I am also pondering a question about the lessons we learn through people so perhaps we can discuss that as well = )   Take care!

Thanks to Ricky and thanks to you Angel! You can post a topic anytime! I know from our old QnA that your topics were tops ( next to Willow's - he,he!!)

With the topics I chose I wanted to set the tone, a little deeper going topics than the usual Bla,bla. But that does not mean that we cannot  have real fun here!

I hope your little Angel has overcome the flu totally.
